Overlooking the harbour of the preposterously picturesque fishing village of Mousehole, 2 Fore Street serves up well-rendered modern European dishes in a homely setting. Stripped wood tables, white-washed walls and vases of flowers combine to welcoming effect, matched by a mix of hearty British and Continental dishes. The menu changes daily and by the season, but expect a blend of burgers, fish cakes and steaks with more technically accomplished dishes. Newlyn scallops with lemon and herb butter tempt, as does pan fried gurnard with chorizo and roasted garlic. Finish with hazelnut meringue accompanied by passion fruit and chantilly cream. On sunny days head to the delightful garden complete with smart white parasols and spiky palm trees.
