Overview

Step into the world of Scotland's most Famous Poet The Burns National Heritage Park is made up of several sites (all within walking distance) which shed light on the life and times of Scotland's most seminal wordsmith. The natural starting point is the museum which tells the story of the poet through objects and manuscripts and there are opportunities to hear Burns poems and songs. Meanwhile The Tam O'Shanter Experience features a 12 minute reading of one of Burns' works set against a backdrop of a film of the events he is describing. Then you'll move onto Burns Cottage, built in the 18th century, where the poet was born and raised until age seven. Other spots to take in are the Burns monument, the Brig a' Doon medieval bridge and the Kirk of Alloway where the starring witches of Tam were first spotted in the poem.
