National Gallery of Scotland
The National Gallery of Scotland was opened in 1859, and houses Scotland´s greatest collection of European paintings, drawings and prints dating from the early Renaissance to the late 19th century. The collection of over 20000 items includes works by Raphael, Titian, Velazquez, Poussin, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, Turner and the Impressionists. Also on display is the national collection of Scottish art with works by Ramsay, Raeburn, Wilkie and McTaggart. There is an extensive programme of exhibitions.
