Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum
Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum - in AD122 the Emperor Hadrian ordered a mighty frontier system to be built across Britain to defend the Roman Empire from the barbarians to the north, and Segedunum was the last outpost of Hadrian´s Wall. The excavated remains with spectacular reconstructions and exciting displays show what life was like in Roman Britain. This is the most extensively excavated site in the Empire and the reconstructed bath-house is the only one of its kind in Britain. Housed in the museum are over 700 artefacts and the views from the 100 feet-high tower show the remains and a plan of the fort.
