Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon
Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is an £11 million project, opened in 2004, and the first national museum to be built in the North East. It combines a state of the art 6,000 sq ft collections centre, housing over 60 vehicles from the National Collection of locomotives. Also on display is the prototype Deltic, and interactive exhibits. Steam train rides are available throughout the summer and there is an exciting events programme.
