Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon


The Museum of Barnstaple & North Devon tells the story of North Devon, the wildlife, history and culture from prehistoric times to the 1930s. In the Tarka Centre discover river life, and go to the undersea room and see a giant Leatherback turtle along with replica mammals and fish from around the North Devon coast. Also on display is 17th century pewter, pottery and furniture by Shapland and Petter. The military displays tell the stories of the Royal Devon Yeomanry and Devonshire Regiment. There is a programme of changing temporary exhibitions.
