Abbot Hall Art Gallery


Abbot Hall Art Gallery is a fine Georgian house containing an outstanding collection of fine art. Works are shown in period settings along with furniture and objets d´art of the period. A collection of society portraits of the day by George Romney, the town´s famous artist, are also on display. The changing displays are drawn from the permanent collection, which includes works by Turner, Ruskin, Lear, Nicholson and Spencer. The Hall also has a highly acclaimed exhibition programme.
