Imperial War Museum North

Imperial War Museum North opened in July 2002, and is a stunning aluminium-clad building - the first in the UK by international architect Daniel Libeskind. The Museum utilises its world-famous collections with a number of new display techniques. The Big Picture uses the sound and photography archive in a spectacular audio-visual show using over 60 projectors. `Silos´ concentrate on different themes of warfare that include Women and War, Empire and Commonwealth, Legacy of War, Experience, Impressions and Science and Technology. A number of iconic objects, such as a Harrier Jump-Jet, a Trabant estate car and a T34 Tank, are highlights in the breathtaking gallery.
