House of Dun & Montrose Basin Nature Reserve

House of Dun is a Georgian house, overlooking the Montrose Basin, designed and built by William Adam in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun. The superb plasterwork is by Joseph Enzer. Inside are collections of family portraits, 18th and 19th century furniture and porcelain. Also on display are examples of the embroidery of Lady Augusta, daughter of William IV. The courtyard buildings house a handloom weaving workshop. The small walled garden has been largely restored to a late Victorian period and includes a range of plants typical of the 1880s.
