Nunnington Hall

Nunnington Hall is mainly a 17th century manor house, the west wing dates from 1580 but was badly damaged during the Civil War by a Parliamentarian garrison. It was extensively remodelled in 1685 and again in the 1920s. The interior has stone flagged floors with a magnificent oak panelled hall and staircase is hung with French tapestries. A mixed collection of pictures, including mezzotints and watercolours, are on display. The family rooms include the nursery, the haunted room and attics, which house the Carlisle collection of miniature period rooms. The attractive walled garden was restored in the 1980s.
