Attingham Park

Elegant 18th century mansion Attingham Park, with its three storey ionic portico at the entrance, is a wonderfully grand sight to behold. Built for the first Lord Berwick in 1785, it sits in stunning parkland between the River Severn and Shrewsbury populated by fallow deer (and much wildlife besides, especially along the five mile stretch of river). Inside the house, don’t miss the wonderful Picture Gallery, the dining room set for an evening banquet in the Regency period and the lovely Boudoir. House staff do utterly fascinating regular tours and talks explaining the history of the building and its occupants which really add colour to what you are seeing. Outside, there are miles and miles of lovely country walks along the River Tern and a beautiful Walled Garden. For families, look out for regular workshops and themed seasonal events (plus there is a family trail you can do anytime).
