Somerleyton Hall & Gardens
Somerleyton Hall, originally Jacobean, was redesigned by Sir Morton Peto in Victorian Anglo-Italian style and is home to the Crossley family. Features include lavish carved stonework by John Thomas and wood carvings by Grinling Gibbons. The entrance hall has marble pillars, Minton floor tiles and a unique stained-glass dome, the elegant ballroom features white sculptured marble and the collection of paintings includes work by Stanfield and Landseer.Guided tours are available on all open days. Fine gardens with flower borders, specimen trees and one of England's finest yew hedge mazes planted in 1846 by William Nesfield.
