Shaw House

Shaw House was built in 1581 by Newbury clothier Thomas Dolman. This fine Elizabethan building has enjoyed a colourful past from a Duke’s country retreat to a school. It was recently restored through a £6million project and the stories and characters from Shaw House’s are bought to life in the new exhibition. A number of historic rooms can be viewed, this is an ideal day out for families with Wheelie Do activities located throughout the house, including activities from designing the gardens to playing our Civil War board game. Shaw House has an exciting and varied events programme, a café and gift shop. Find out more on our website.
