Royal Musselburgh Golf Club simply oozes history as the fifth oldest in
the world situated at the start of the famous stretch of golf courses
on the East Lothian coast to the east of Musselburgh. A tight parkland
course with several dog-leg holes and punishing rough, the greens are
always impeccable. The 6,254-yard par 70 course evolved from the
nine-hole Musselburgh Levenhall links. The club moved from Musselburgh
Old Course to its present site in 1925, the course was first designed
by James Braid but has been remodelled since. The clubhouse is a
treasure trove for historical memorabilia. The centrepiece is the Old
Club Cup dating back to 1774, the oldest trophy still competitively
played for in the world. Catering facilities and clubhouse are superb.
