Moor Allerton Golf Club
Moor Allerton's original 18 holes were laid out by Alister MacKenzie in 1923 close to Moortown. The club moved a few miles to its present site because of the growth in membership and Robert Trent Jones designed the new course - his first in Britain. He laid out 27 holes on 220 acres of undulating countryside, in three distinct loops - Lakes, Blackmoor and High - and the style is modern and American with big contoured greens, long shaped bunkers and plenty of water. The first two holes are a real test at 450 and 420 yards while par five 14th with woods on the right and water on the left is a fine hole and the 18th is a tough par which calls for an accurate approach shot over a water to an elevated well-bunkered green.
