Wisley Golf Club
The connection with the Royal Horticultural Society's gardens is evident on the first UK course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr in1991. Three nine-hole loops (Church, Mill and Garden) form the 27-hole American-style quality complex where the River Wey and new lakes have been skilfully used to add to the hazards and delight of golf played in attractive surroundings. Each nine has its own character, many unforgettable holes offer risk and reward. Perhaps the seventh on the Mill stands out most, a 223-yard par three with a double water hazard to carry to a kidney-shaped green guarded by four bunkers. But there are 26 other equally memorable holes. Members include Colin Montgomerie and Paul Casey.
