Wentworth Club (East)
Designed by Harry Colt in 1924, two years before the more famous West, it is an easier, more user-friendly course with exactly the same attractive characteristics, bellowed by members and visitors alike. The first unofficial Ryder Cup-like match took place on the East. It spans just 6,200 yards from the back tees with a testing par of 68. There are five par fours in excess of 400 yards and only one par five, the ninth. A walk from the par-three tenth introduces the tough par-four 11th that requires a drive across bunkers to a narrow landing area followed by a second shot to a two-tier uphill green on the left. The springy turf, tranquil, natural surroundings and impressive true greens are a pleasure to visit.
