Woburn Golf & Country Club (Marquess)

The Marquess course, the most recent addition at Woburn in 1999, is set within 200 acres of mature woodland in the 3,000-acre estate on boundary of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, designed by Ross McMurray, Clive Clark, Peter Allis and Alex Hay. The fairways are wider, the land more undulating and the trees are more park-like, featuring oak, yew, chestnut, rowan and beech, whereas the other two courses are predominantly carved through pine forests. Measuring well over 7,000 yards, the seventh hole is outstanding, requiring a perfect drive to the left and then a long iron. The 12th is a tricky short par four with two lakes connected by a stream a barrier to the green.
