Leonardslee lakes & gardens

Leonardslee lakes & gardens is one of the very few Grade I gardens and is often described as the 'most beautiful landscape garden in Europe in May'. Escape from today's busy world in over 200 acres of paradise, enjoy a walk around our 7 lakes and experience the deliciously scented lakeside Azaleas which are enhanced by their reflections in the water. Leonardslee opens in April with magnificent Magnolias, Camellias and banks of daffodils. The flowering season rises to its peak in May when the famous 100 year-old Rhododendron loderi, weighed down by a mass of fragrant blooms overhang paths lined with bluebells. The Rock garden becomes a mosaic of colours; Japanese Axaleas contrast with the shapes of palms and conifers. See wallabies grazing, look out for one of our rare white wallabies and catch a glimpse of a little 'joey' in its mother's pouch! Finish off your day in the fantastic 'Beyond the Dolls House' exhibition; a country estate and local town of one hundred years ago in miniature.
