Houghton Hall Walled Garden is a 5 acre walled garden divided by yew hedges into `garden rooms´. Including a 120 yard double herbaceous border, formal rose parterre with over 120 rose varieties, irises, paeonies, delphiniums, asters, anemones, kitchen garden, greenhouses, water features, sculptures, Julian Bannerman designed rustic temple and large fruit cage. Croquet lawn. The Deer Park, which surrounds the house, contains a herd of White Fallow and other exotic breeds of deer. Houghton Hall was built in the 1720s by Sir Robert Walpole, Britain´s first Prime Minister. The house is a splendid example of a Palladian Mansion, with interior designed by William Kent.
