Antony house and gardens, an example of one of Cornwalls´ finest early 18th century houses, faced in lustrous silvery-grey Pentewan stone, offset by colonnaded wings of red brick and set within grounds landscaped by Repton. These include the formal garden with the National Collection of day-lilies and fine summer borders, the superb woodland garden with its outstanding displays of rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias and magnolias (owned privately by the Carew-Pole Garden Trust). Also of note are the 18th century dovecote and the 1789 Bath Pond House. Antony has been the home of the Carew family for almost 600 years.

Antony is part of the following Editors' Picks:

Ten Famous TV and Film Gardens by Veronica Peerless

"When director Tim Burton was scouting for locations for Alice in Wonderland, he was looking for a historic house with formal gardens and sweeping views. He found them all at atmospheric Antony. The gardens are the backdrop for Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, although the sequence was filmed using special effects - Johnny himself never actually went to Cornwall."

Fifteen of the Best Spring Gardens by Veronica Peerless

"Over 7000 tulips in flower are undoubtedly the draw of Chenies in spring. Owner Elizabeth MacLeod and Bloms Bulbs come up with ever more dazzling colour combinations in different parts of the garden, under planted with spring bedding such as forget-me-nots and wallflowers. Don’t miss the arched walkway, where daffodils and hellebores are followed by purple and white alliums."
