Coton Manor Garden

There’s something about a rural English garden in spring and summer that lifts the soul – all those cherry blossoms and roses set against almost lime-coloured lawns just seem to take your cares away. Coton Manor, set deep in the heart of Northamptonshire, is just such a place. The 10-acre garden was designed by the current owners’ grandparents in the 1920s and is a riot of colour throughout the season. The glorious bluebell wood is a sweet-smelling sea of colour come the spring while the wildflower meadow in June and July is simply gorgeous. Look out for the herb garden, the old yews and holly hedges, the sleek verdant lawns and the heavenly magnolia blossoms. Kids will love the little collection of birds and animals that make Coton Manor their home too – make friends with the hairy Kune Kune pigs (renowned for their friendliness to humans), the English Longhorns and the rather stately flamingos!
Opening times for 2013 are Good Friday March 29 to September 28.
