Review of Ladderstile Retreat

Posted on by Ann OwensType of travel: Family

Looking after our granddaughter for the weekend we decided to spend a quality weekend away. Our Internet search lead us to Britain's Finest and in turn to the idyllic Ladderstile Retreat. Once found I always check out our choice on Trip Advisor prior to booking however Ladderstile was not listed on T.A. I have since discovered T.A. Do not list establishments with only 1 bedroom. Ladderstile looked so picturesque and cosy. I went ahead and booked. Ladderstile was such a treasure of a find. We were totally spoiled by Rose who had a cosy log fire burning in the beautiful lounge in readiness for our arrival.

The accommodation is very cute and homely, you enter through your own front door into your own sun lounge. The sun lounge has the most amazing views of open countryside and distant peaks which during our stay were snow capped. From here you can also watch the large array of wildlife, nuthatches, jays, squirrels etc and of course the resident hens and sheep. The sun lounge then leads through double doors into your lounge which is well equipped with books music and film DVDs, TV/music centre, games, binoculars etc. The bedroom is big and well appointed with a fridge filled with bottled water and a jug of fresh milk, there is a kettle with a choice of teas, coffee and chocolate, the bathroom has underfloor heating and is equipped with separate rain shower as well as a bath. Everything you could ever require Rose has thought of. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well thought out. Rose and Peter kindly gave our 4 year old granddaughter a personal guided tour of the farm. She was lucky enough to see an unexpected new born lamb and Rose let her gather the fresh eggs from the hen house. We will be revisiting very soon and hopefully enjoy some walking followed by some holistic treatments.
