Blenheim Lodge B&B

Brantfell Road, Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria, LA23 3AE

Location-wise, Blenheim Lodge, a Victorian residence on the shores of Lake Windermere, is an absolute stunner. Spot the cows and sheep grazing outdoors among the National Trust fields and woodland and find your way to the scenic Dales Way Walk, which is a speedy minute from the front door. Inside, take to one of its decorative rooms, replete with elegant antique furniture, uplifting Laura Ashley wall colours and bundles of charm. Book the Langdale and collapse on the centrepiece William IV 4-poster bed and gaze across still waters or make your way up to the Attic and marvel at its stunning carved wooden bedstead. Make things extra special and ask the owners to add treats like flowers, chocolates, champagne and cake. Wake up to birdsong and tuck into a local breakfast using butcher-made sausages and bacon, and eggs and milk from the local dairy. And when the weather turns bad retreat to the guest lounge and put your feet up in front of the TV or simply take in gorgeous lake views.

Such a warm welcome from Janz! with friendly, attentive and helpful contact with her and her husband throughout our stay. The view from room 3 was literally breathtaking, the four poster bed and soft furnishings were quite luxurious. Plenty of choice for an excellent breakfast. We did not need to use the car at all and found so many things to do locally, including using the complimentary pass for spa facilities at a local Country Club. Already planning another visit...
