Brighton Sea Life Centre

I find it very difficult to extricate my small son from the Brighton Sealife Centre as the draw of Lulu and Jersey, the city’s very own giant turtle is far too great. The centre’s glass bottom boat experience allows kids to look at them from a snorkeller’s perspective as well as showcasing an array of sharks and reef fish. Another cast-iron winner with the little ones is the touch pool where crab and starfish are stroked pretty much all through the day by curious little hands. Older children will enjoy the series of talks that run regularly explaining things like what rays do all day while the very cool Jellyfish Discovery exhibit takes you through mind blowing facts like jellyfish have no brain, blood or heart but can smell other animals. There’s also a popular Behind The Scenes tour where you get to see how the staff look after the centre’s inhabitants, from filtration to feeding.
