Sitting in what has to be one of the most picturesque spots in Britain in a mature spruce forest on the banks of Loch Creran, the Scottish Sea Life sanctuary’s primary focus is the rescue of abandoned common and grey seal pups. But there are plenty more fascinating displays to see as you meander through though the woodland – natural marine habitats contain creatures as diverse as the octopus and the shark. You can hand feed the latter along with rays and the touch pool is always a hit with little ones who like to handle the starfish and crabs. Resident seals Lorna and Gigha will entertain from the Underwater Seal Observatory and outside there are play areas, nature trails and forest walks to add to a grand day out.
