The town of Shipton-under-Wychwood in Oxfordshire,derives its name from the fact that it used to be 'under the boughs of the ancient Royal Forest of Wychwood. Very little of forest remains today as for the most part there is farmland , green fields and stone walls. The Elizabethan Manor house of Shipton Court being one of the oldest in the country is well worth a visit.
