Built by Glen Tanar's original founder in 1869, and originally the music room of Glen Tanar House, our unique Ballroom provides a spectacular space for every stage of your wedding. From your first visit here, our experienced wedding professionals will work with you to ensure your Glen Tanar wedding is everything you could have hoped for, and even more.

What is a typical wedding like at Glen Tanar Ballroom?

From its vaulted ceiling adorned with over 700 antlers, to its original oak floors, the Ballroom is airy, atmospheric and spacious. With space to seat up to 160 guests, the Ballroom boasts a roaring open fire, a beautiful grand piano and excellent acoustics, while the lawns outside are a pleasing space for drinks receptions and garden games during Spring and Summer weddings.

What Extra facilities does Glen Tanar Ballroom have to assist couples to have the perfect day?

Luxury accommodation can be provided in up to 9 luxury self catering holiday cottages on the estate, sleeping from 2 to 11 persons, meaning wedding guests can absorb themselves in your special day and stay close by.

Just to say a huge thank-you to you both for helping to make our silver wedding such a success. Address: Glen Tanar Estate, Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, AboyneAB34 5EU, United Kingdom

By car - From Ballater East along the A93 to Dinnet; turn right to Dinnet bridge then left after crossing the river onto the B976; after three miles turn right at the Bridge and Tower of Ess into Glen Tanar; after two miles bear right at Glen Tanar House and proceed up the hill with the Equestrian Centre on your left. Follow this road round the next corner and past the 'end of public road' sign. You will enter a yard area where the Estate Office (Brooks House) is located on the left hand side. There is parking for a few cars outside the office. From Aboyne South over the River Dee at Aboyne Bridge turn right onto the B976 to Bridge and Tower of Ess; then as above. By air - The nearest airport is Aberdeen Airport. You have the option of either hiring a car at the airport or getting a taxi. A taxi journey to Glen Tanar will cost approximately £65 upwards. Airport taxis can be more expensive. If you wish contacts for local taxi firms please give us a call for a recommendation. A drive from the airport to Glen Tanar takes about one hour's drive, following the A93 to Aboyne. By train- You can get a train to Stonehaven or Aberdeen and either get a taxi or hire a car. Once again give us a call for recommendations.
