Getting married? Looking for a venue with a difference? It's time you got in the car and headed off to the iconic Cley Windmill on the North Norfolk coast.
The windmill started hosting weddings in 2003, since when the word has spread and would-be brides and grooms are clamouring to secure a spot at this beautiful historic building in the midst of reeds, sea views and stunning unspoilt countryside. Last year saw Simon and Sarah, the' can-do, nothing's too much trouble' managers, oversee more than 100 weddings and 2015 seems set to be even busier.
So why has it become so popular? Well, it really is a perfect setting for that very special day and the whole process is personalised and enjoyable for couples, right from the initial tour of the mill, on to the subsequent meetings (usually 3 or 4) to iron out all those special requirements.
If this has whetted your appetite and you'd like to come over to view the windmill and discuss your wedding plans, then Simon and Sarah would be delighted to hear from you. Just give them a call or email them and they will be glad to assist.
What makes Cley Windmill a unique wedding venue?
Many couples do come back to re-live their magical day, by re-visiting the windmill, year after year, to celebrate their wedding anniversary and each time, they receive the same warm welcome from the friendly team.
What is a typical wedding like at Cley Windmill?
The ceremony usually takes place in the wonderful circular sitting room which is the oldest part of the mill, dating back to 1713 – imagine tying the knot in such an historic setting! Or if you prefer the thought of making those vows in the garden and grounds, then that's also possible – the licence extends to cover both indoor and outdoor events. Guests often choose to book the whole mill out for a night or two to make the place their own (they can sleep 20 plus), or alternatively they sometimes opt for just the ceremony and reception.
As for the food and drinks – there is a team of outstanding chefs who cater for the whole wedding experience with care and attention to ensure that your wedding is a feast to remember. Guests dine on local produce so that your event is a truly ‘Norfolk' experience.
And if you need recommendations for flowers, photographers, hair, make-up , cars, music or anything else that will help to make your day just as you want it to be, the team have an excellent relationship with a variety of top providers.
