An elegant, 24 bedroom, Georgian Dower house hotel with grandstand views out across sweeping lawns to the sea, harbour and beyond... great for those treasured photos.
With its own 18th Century private chapel (perfect for weddings of around 60), a unique secluded Garden Lookout Tower that looks out over the Cobb Harbour (voted England’s most romantic spot & great for tiny weddings) together with a light filled Orangery that opens out onto the lawn, the Alexandra really has something for anyone looking for that special coastal wedding.
Here history mixes with contemporary in a stylish and understated way... stripped floorboards, comfy sofas, colourful fabrics and of course a friendly 'go the extra mile' team all roll into a winning combination.
What makes Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant a unique wedding venue?
The amazing sea views, large gardens, the romantic Garden Lookout Tower and the private 18th century chapel make this a truly unique wedding venue.
What is a typical wedding like at Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant?
Having chosen the Chapel from one of 5 different ceremony rooms (Garden Lookout Tower, the Georgian Dining Room, the Orangery or perhaps by the Sitting Room fire in winter) you leave the candle filled Chapel and head for the garden where your guests will be able to soak in the views over Lyme Bay.
The gardens and views beyond provide a great photo backdrop and most couples also choose to steal away for a while with the photographer to wander the beach, walk along the Cobb wall enjoying the waves from passers-by and capturing more precious moments.
Returning to the garden your guests have been relaxing, enjoying their Champagne and canapes. The party are then invited up the steps from the lawn into the Orangery for the Wedding breakfast.
After experiencing your choice from a number of wedding menus created by the Alex chef, the speeches over and Champagne flowing the whole party is now relaxing and ready to move back through to the Chapel now transformed in to an evening venue with a bar and band. Later a light buffet supper completes the evening before the party makes their way to bed.
