When you arrive, you will be welcomed into the Entrance Garden which was formally the old farmyard. This area was completely transformed by Julian and Isabel Bannerman by creating a Mediterranean feel with formal water pools surrounded by African lilies and olive trees.
At the heart of the garden are the West Borders. A palette of blue, white and pale yellow, roses, tulips and forget me knots carefully line the avenue, perfectly framing the view beyond the gates into the countryside. The walls are full of climbing roses and the borders are bursting with bloom in full season.
Admire the combined textures, tones and shapes of the leaves that make up the four immaculate box-hedged beds surrounding the Italian well.

Visitors can explore the Gardens via the Long Walk: Inspired by the classical landscape gardens and pleasure grounds of the 18th and 19th centuries, the Long Walk contrasts with the formal garden rooms around the house. Filled with a variety of follies, the Long Walk was designed to create an air of mystery and surprise. Many surprises await you, including The River God, the octagonal Gothic summer house by the waterfall, the impressive William Pye water fountain, as well as the All Hallows Church with its magnificent stained glass windows.
