Overview

Explore the beautiful Wimpole Estate Wimpole Hall has a twenty-acre garden with a 350-acre park beyond. The garden has undergone several phases of landscape and garden design since the 17th century. The park has been landscaped by Bridgeman, `Capability´ Brown and Repton. There is an outstanding folly and notable Chinese Bridge, as well as a 2 1/4 mile avenue originally of elms, but now replanted with limes. A formal garden surrounds the house, dating from the 17th century. Enclosed by iron railings it includes an informal rose garden, a Dutch garden and a restored parterre. The 19th century pleasure grounds to the east of the house contain fine specimens of conifers, including Bishop´s Pine, Spanish fir and Sequoias. This area is underplanted with over 20 varieties of daffodils and narcissi and provides an impressive display of wild flowers including snowdrops, celandines, orchids and violets. The Walled garden has been restored in recent years and now provides an impressive collection of fruit and vegetables throughout the year, all of which are used to supply the Wimpole Hall restaurant, as well as colourful cutting borders
