Overview

Surrounded by stunning Kent countryside and enjoying views across the North Downs, Westerham Golf Club offers a test of accuracy to even the most experienced golfer. Opened in 1997 and built to USGA specifications, Westerham has secured its place amongst the best of Kent golf courses and is a popular choice for all golfers.

What style is the course at Westerham Golf Club?

Designed by course architect, David Williams, Westerham is an 18 hole, par 72 course which stretches over 6,200 yards from the competition tees (5,958 off yellow). Built to USGA specifications and with full irrigation throughout, the course offers year round play. Enjoying a mature setting, the course encompasses established forestry, tree-lined fairways, water features and bunkers, for a challenging and engaging round of golf.

What is the feature hole?

Said to have been born out of the great storm of 1987, the 189 yard, par 3, 11th is a picturesque hole played from a raised tee, through a clearing of tall pines to a 2-level putting surface. Protected by 3 bunkers, the green drops away to the left and rear, so accuracy is essential to walk away happy!

What sort of course features can the player expect?

Westerham's course features 3 lakes which present hazards on the 2nd, 9th and 18th holes - the latter 2 of which play out in front of the clubhouse, for added pressure! The course is also peppered with strategically placed bunkers throughout, which, combined with the wooded areas, make for an interesting round.

Other Information

Westerham's course is popular with golfers of all ages and abilities who return time and again to enjoy its varied play and picturesque setting.

The course, which has been perfectly blended into the pine woods and surrounding countryside is fairly challenging with large ponds on the second and eighteenth hole. Its fairly hilly, so you need a good set of legs to get round but well worth the effort. The club house features a bar and Restraurant with walk out balcony overlooking the last hole with its lake and massive fountain just beneath.Their large banqueting hall is ideal for weddings or corporate days as it also overlooks those rolling fairways with plenty of large windows and a built in bar at one end. I have attended a few dinners and two weddings there and they were all a great success. I find them all rather a friendly lot, not the clicky atmosphere that one very often finds in some of these provincial clubs.

Second visit here.... Never disappointed with the golf course ... Greens great condition albeit a little slow... Fairways great ... Not held up in general play as this can be an issue here... Food wise again not let down great bacon butty along with Steak and Ale pie.... The staff who helped organise this were great a big thanks... We will return....
