Overview

The Gables is a luxurious Peak District holiday house situated in the quaint village of Peak Forest between the rugged Peaks on the north and the gentle rolling hills of the Derbyshire Dales on the south. The Peak District is the world's second most popular national park, and the UK's most visited park providing stunning scenery and plenty of places to visit, cycle and walk, irrespective of your age or ability. The Gables is of very high quality, truly traditional elegance, with a genuine home feel, surrounded by 2 acres of landscaped gardens with broad courtyards, plenty of outdoor seating and the ever-hopeful BBQ. The house comfortably accommodates up to 19 adults.

What is the capacity for The Gables?

The Gables comprises seven bedrooms (3 en-suite), a master bathroom and a family bathroom with various configurations. There is a large living space with a separate sitting room, both of which have open fireplaces. Additionally, in the basement, there is a 'snug room.' The country kitchen has more space and atmosphere than you could shake a stick, it boasts the inevitable large kitchen table with additional storage and work areas supported by a spacious utility room adjacent to the kitchen. There is also a separate dining room with a dining table for up to 17 people. There are two acres of landscaped gardens that provide the area that you and your younger party members are likely to need. There's also a large terrace for the young and older alike; ample patios for that summer barbecue.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Buxton area?

The Gables is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and make the perfect base for exploring the awe-inspiring scenery of the National Park of the Peak District. If it's an outdoor sport, visiting historic houses, participating in local Summer carnivals or just general site exploring, the area offers plenty to do and see all year round. The historic towns of Eyam, Castleton and Tideswell are within easy reach of the Gables and offer shopping and local areas of interest. A l ittle further away, Bakewell and Buxton have many lovely scenery and picturesque towns.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

The peak region and surrounding area is home to some first-class food suppliers, from award-winning butchers to independent bakeries, seafood shops and dairies - they truly put the Big Boy Retailers to shame both on quality, food miles, and price.
Even the most enthusiastic cooks may wish to take a break from the kitchen and hang up their aprons from time to time. There's plenty of options within a very short drive, whether you're looking to book something to celebrate a special occasion or a quick yet tasty home-cooked meal in a country pub. Furthermore, there are a variety of reliable shuttles to Peak Wood.
