What style is the course at Surrey National Golf Course?
Designed by leading golf course architect, David Williams, Surrey National is an 18-hole, par 72, parkland course of championship length status, spanning 6333 yards, off the yellow tees. With tree-lined fairways, raised tees and a number of challenging par 4s, the course offers a memorable round, where the highlight could be the 3rd, which requires a carry of over 150 yards, across water, to the green from the championship tees.
What is the feature hole?
Two of the most difficult holes are the 16th and 6th - these are par 4s which require long, accurate shots to the green to avoid grassy hollows, bunkers or difficult shots from amongst the trees. However, the most difficult and therefore the most memorable hole is likely to be the 3rd, which requires a tee shot over a lake to the green - accuracy and a level head are needed for this.
What sort of course features can the player expect?
Surrey National is a course of championship length, which plays host to just three par 3s. Holes run along valleys and ridges, with the majority of holes being played on the level or downhill. However, carefully positioned bunkers, lakes and grassy hollows lend a degree of difficulty which will offer a challenge to even the best golfers. Buggies are available.
