Overview

The privately-owned Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens is a stunning family home, in the glorious Kent countryside. With 10 acres of stunning gardens, magnificent topiary and a charming tea room, the house also offers five luxury guest rooms on a B&B basis.

Where is Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens located?

Mount Ephraim is situated in the charming village of Hernhill, near Faversham in Kent. Both Canterbury and Whitstable are close by, and it is a short drive to Dover and the Channel Tunnel.

What style of garden is Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens?

The design of the gardens dates back around 100 years, with features including a rock garden, rose terraces, a topiary area and a Japanese bridge. To celebrate the Millennium, a new rose garden was designed, and other recent additions include a grass maze, an arboretum and a water garden.

What can guests enjoy at Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens?

The gardens at Mount Ephraim have colour and interest throughout the year. In spring, the daffodils and camellias are a joy, and these are followed by rhododendrons and azaleas. The roses flower in May and June and give colour right through the season. At the end of the summer, the ‘Miz Maze' is a real treat, packed with grasses, perennials and wild flowers.

Other Information

The West Wing Tea Room serves appetising lunches, along with afternoon teas. Visitors are also welcome to have a picnic in the grounds. There is a children's play area and dogs are welcome.

Reviews

I was amazed with this garden there is so much to see, lots of seating areas with views of the lakes ,ponds , water features, grass area or flowers , I think my husband and I spent about two hours, I would have liked longer as there was so much I wanted to take photo's of but didn't get time, They do host weddings here which would brilliant for the wedding shots . once we have finished going round the gardens we stopped and have a cup of coffee and a slice of cake which was really nice and a reasonable price

For anyone who's rattled down from the M2 to Margate, you'll have seen ( and probably passed) the Mount Ephraim sign. I have for the past 30 years, but a 2-4-1 garden ticket took me in this direction. What an absolute treat ! Wish I'd discovered this 30 years ago. Child friendly gardens, nice tea room - and the B&B looks a treat. Looked great for weddings as well. Will revisit. Spend some time finding about the local rebellion - read about it in the tea room.

This garden has a wonderful feel to it, with pockets of delight around each corner. A great place to wander and take photographs , or just to chill out and watch the ducks on the lake. Staff are friendly and helpful. Thank you a lovely morning.

Visited with my mum for lunch today. If only I had known how lovely this place was I would of come sooner. And they allow dogs. What better way to spend an afternoon.

A friend took me on a two for one voucher but we'll worth the £7 entrance it would have cost. Beautiful grounds, nice loos and very nice tea and cake !
