Overview

Flindor Cottage offers B&B accommodation in two luxury suites in the heart of Suffolk. The Cottage is a Grade 2 listed 17th-century timber-framed hall house. Situated just off the A1120 tourist route in rural central Suffolk, Framsden is a quintessentially English village with its own windmill. The village is close to the picturesque towns of Woodbridge, Framlingham and Debenham and within easy reach of the magnificent Suffolk Heritage Coast and the towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh.

What makes a stay at Flindor Cottage B&B unique?

Flindor Cottage has a reputation for attention to detail, from personalised breakfast menus to homemade biscuits in your room. Everything is aimed at making you feel totally relaxed, and if you want a quiet day, there is no need to leave the Cottage at all. Enjoy the peace of the large sitting room or the privacy of the garden, weather permitting.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Flindor Cottage B&B?

Flindor Cottage has the Barn Suite and the Cottage Suite, both double rooms with roll-top baths in their luxurios bathrooms.

There is a wealth of beams adding to the charm of the rooms, which are generously filled with antique furniture. In addition to the usual facilities such as television, fresh flowers, and tea and coffee there is also a selection of stronger beverages.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Framsden area?

Suffolk has a wealth of attractions, all accessible from Framsden. There are castles at Framlingham and Orford, a working pin mill at Saxstead Green, Sutton Hoo archaeology site, Snape Maltings concert hall, several museums and in the neighboring village, Helmingham Hall with its busy schedule and famous gardens.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

A delicious breakfast is served in the dining room, with a roaring open fire in the colder months. Using locally sourced produce wherever possible, there is a large selection on offer, including a different cooked 'special' each day. Evening meals are also offered, the main attraction being fresh fish caught on the owner's boat, complemented by wine from the cellar.  If guests want to eat out there are several good pubs and restaurants in the nearby villages and towns.

Totally superb. Well worth the wait and the money I bid for a two day break at Flindor Cottage at a charity Country Fair in the previous Summer but because of other holiday commitments we did not take our break until early May last year. Once found what a treasure. Our room was large and comfortable and the bathroom across the landing luxurious though because of advancing years and arthritic knees we did not regretfully avail ourselves of the antique free standing bath! Mark takes out fishermen on trips into the North Sea and offers choices from his catch at supper. Fresh local asparagus was followed by freshly caught sea bass perfectly baked with the lightest of sauces and an indulgent desert to follow and an excellent white wine. Mark certainly knows his wines and vintages. As well as being an expert sailor Mark is also a cricket nut and it turns out that we probably played against each other in goodish club cricket in younger days. Evidence of this passion is the presence of numerous cricket books on the well stocked bookshelves. We enjoyed two excellent breakfasts - with copious fresh fruit and cereals and a hearty cooked platter. The whole stay could not have been bettered.

Absolutely Fabulous I'm almost reluctant to write this and keep the knowledge of Flindor cottage to ourselves but credit where credit is due. This was the best B&B we have ever stayed in. The accommodation is wonderful with a large comfortable bedroom and a luxurious bathroom with an antique roll top bath. It contained a fridge and bar stocked with every drink you could require at very reasonable prices. Mark even kept us supplied with ice and fresh milk. The breakfasts were amazing, fresh fruit, croissants, cooked breakfasts to order and a scrambled egg and smoked salmon special to die for. Dinner was a fantastic tapas with paella and a lovely local cheese board and a very nice red wine from Mark’s own cellar. The service was great, Mark is a genuinely nice guy who couldn't do enough for us. We can't wait to return.

Thoroughly nice place ! Booked a three night stay over the bank holiday weekend. Mark is a great host (although he isn't always about) - pleasant & helpful with local details & recommendations for eating etc. Breakfasts are great - loads of choice & everything just nice. We had booked the Barn Suite - really well appointed, very comfy bed - great bathroom (note no shower as such). Lots of nice little touches...........! Had the three course dinner on the first evening; Mark went to some little trouble - loads of really good home-cooked food - also he has a good wine selection. The Barn Suite has it's own entrance so you can come & go as you please; also the cottage has a nice garden to sit & enjoy. I could go on - basically it's a really nice place - try it out!

Probably the most perfect B&B We just spent the weekend at Flindor and it was just superb. Everything about the cottage is perfect, yet still remains comfortable and warm without pretension. And Mark is a stellar host. Again, he's attentive without being smothering and is super friendly. Plus we were his first vegan hosts and he pulled off excellent and delicious tofu scrambles from the first try! Thank you for such a memorable stay.

Mid week break with Friends Flindor Cottage was a fantastic find! Beautiful cottage appointed to the very highest standards. 2 lovely bedrooms with separate roll top equipped bathrooms. Very cosy all round including lounge and dining room with welcoming open fires. Mark was an excellent host and his breakfasts outstanding. Very extensive wine list. Fully recommend.

Flindor Cottage (Amazing!!) Absolutele gem of a place. Mark is such a brilliant host, fantastic cook and a thoroughly nice guy. Our second visit after coming here last year for my birthday. Returned with friends and they too were blown away by this beautiful cottage. Will definitely be returning hopefully at least once a year. Thank you Mark and kind regards.

Superb! We stayed at Flindor cottage in July. It was superb in every way. Mark could not have been more welcoming. It has a lovely olde world charm and the bedrooms are beautifully furnished. The bed gave me the best nights sleep ever! Thank you so much!
