Overview

Eshott Hall, originally a Georgian Manor is a pretty four-star hotel, offering a warm welcome, beautiful gardens and superb dining.

Tucked away in rural Northumberland but within easy access of the A1 and only 15 minutes from the Northumberland coastline, Eshott Hall offers the perfect base to explore the charms of England's northernmost county.

There are 20 bedrooms across the main Hall, the nearby Estate Grange and the Eshott Stables and a hotel Restaurant, awarded two AA rosettes.

What makes a stay at Eshott Hall unique?

Eshott Hall is the archetypal grand manor house, but with the atmosphere being friendly home-from-home. The hotel is renowned for it's laid back, yet professional, hospitality.

This gem of a property has a magic all of its own, with rooms steeped in period detailing and character, and a beautiful stained glass window features on the sweeping staircase, designed by William Morris. The setting could hardly be lovelier, enveloped by acres of ancient woodland, mature gardens, including a restored Victorian fernery.  There’s a productive walled kitchen garden from which the chefs source many ingredients and if you visit in late spring you’ll be treated to show-stopping blooms of fragrant wisteria across the frontage of the Hall.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Eshott Hall?

There are 11 generously sized guest bathrooms and suites in the Main Hall, all of which share a country house style décor, yet with their own individual theme. Many of which have interesting features such as window seats, deep sunken baths or feature fireplaces.

In addition, the former Gamekeeper’s House, Eshott Grange, has six additional rooms, again all of which have a country house style, and the same luxurious amenities such as Temple Spa toiletries and white fluffy bathrobes and slippers.

The original estate stables have been lovingly restored to offer three perfectly proportioned bedrooms, just a stone’s throw from the Main Hall. Spacious and luxurious, the Stable Rooms are named after iconic horses from the racing world and are equipped with the same four-star facilities as the Main Hall.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Morpeth area?

Eshott is enviably located in the heart of the rolling Northumbrian countryside, between the towns of Morpeth and Alnwich and just minutes away from the Northumberland coastline. Purchase a copy of the Walker’s Guide to 25 Classic Northumberland Walks from the hotel Reception, order a luxury picnic hamper from the restaurant and explore God’s own country.

Guests can get up close to puffins and grey seals on the Farne Islands (get on a boat from Seahouses) or discover the gruesome history behind many of the area's iconic castles. Nearby there are many phenomenal gardens at Alnwick, Howick, Belsay Hall and Capability Brown's birthplace, Kirkharle.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Eshott takes food very seriously. Meticulous attention to detail goes into crafting each and every dish, elevating the dining to award-winning standards, including the coveted 2 AA rosettes for the highest standards of creative cuisine. Home-grown produce from the kitchen garden features on the menus throughout the seasons, along with the county’s best produce from the land, sea, sky and rivers.  There are two dining rooms, one for dinner and another ‘morning’ room where hearty breakfasts are served enjoying the views over the lawns, and the early morning sun.

Afternoon tea can be enjoyed outside on the lawns, or in front of a roaring fire.
