Overview

Crossways Farm is more than a place to stay: it is a destination. As well as a luxury bed and breakfast reserved exclusively for you, it is a restorative place for all ages to relax in peaceful surroundings while enjoying the countryside and its wildlife, and of course, a place to have fun. Set in 2.5 acres of gardens, Crossways Farm is a Grade II listed farmhouse of late 14th Century origin, located in Hitcham, central Suffolk, only 15 minutes from the famous medieval wool town of Lavenham. For warmer months of the year, you will have a private area of the garden with hammocks, table and chairs to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

What are the rooms and facilities on offer at Crossways Farm?

The 2 guest rooms, spacious bathroom and private breakfast & sitting room with log stove are self-contained and located at the end of the west wing of the house with their own private entrance and staircase. Whether you book one or both bedrooms, the accommodation is reserved exclusively for you, and with no other guests or occupied adjacent rooms, you can be assured of your privacy and peace and quiet.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Ipswich area?

Crossways Farm is close to several lovely historic sites, the best known of which is Lavenham's medieval wool village, just 7 miles away. If you want to go further, the coastline and the Norfolk Broads are just over an hour away where there are of course countless places to walk, cycle, hire boats and take boat trips on the Broads.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

You are welcomed with tea, coffee, homemade elderflower cordial and cake or biscuits for your pleasure in the kitchen or in the garden (if it's warm enough). In t e lounge there will be a selection of tea and coffee to help yourselves to, along with a kettle, toaster, fridge-freezer, microwave with a grill, crockery and cutlery. In your private breakfast/sitting room, a full English and a continental breakfast are available at your preferred time. There are good dining pubs in many surrounding villages: Bildeston, Chelsworth, Monks Eleigh and Buxhall, to name just a few, are all within 10 minutes’ drive.

Other Information

Throughout the course of your visit, there are home-made cookies, sandwiches, ice cream, and seasonal fruit and vegetables and other home-made, local items available to buy in the mini-shop!

We had a fantastic six nights at Crossways Farm and want to go back already! We enjoyed our stay so much; the very high standard of accommodation, delicious breakfast, fabulous garden with resident goats and hens along with the perfect host. Yalda has put a huge amount of thought, care and hard work into creating a wonderful Bed and Breakfast experience – every detail has been thought of from catering for individual tastes and dietary requirements, using locally and ethically sourced produce to the chocolates on our pillows at bedtime! Our children absolutely loved the animals and spacious garden, along with rowing on the pond. I can't recommend Crossways highly enough – we will certainly be visiting again.

I have never written a review before but am making an exception for Crossways Farm as everything was simply perfect. We took a 14 year old and an 11 year old who are normally glued to their phones but they didn't even switch them on as they were too busy rowing the boat, playing tennis, collecting the eggs from the chickens, mucking around in the hammocks, playing football with the goats and looking out for the moorhen chicks. The accommodation was beautiful and the breakfast just amazing, Yalda thinks of everything and we will definitely be back.

We stayed at Crossways Farm for my husband's birthday and our first trip away with our 2 month old son and it was truly wonderful! Yalda is a superb host and is always ensuring you are comfortable and have everything you need. The place has been done up luxuriously. The beds, woodburner and bath are wonderful! There are great footpaths out of the front door and Lavenham is a short drive away. The best thing about it is the amazing breakfast and also the beautiful grounds and friendly animals.

Our stay at Crossways Farm was wonderful! The farmhouse is full of character and very well kept, with a vast, lush garden that is a joy for the little ones to explore. Breakfast is plentiful and of excellent quality. The accommodation is very comfortable and there are many little touches that make a difference to your stay. Yalda, the owner, is extremely welcoming and friendly and she was fantastic with our children. We definitely recommend this B&B.

A lovely place to stay with children. The host, Yalda, is welcoming and does everything that she can to make your stay enjoyable. She prepares a fantastic breakfast. The accommodation is spacious and very well decorated. The outdoor space is great and our little ones made the most of the vast garden and the tennis court. The children also loved the animals and collecting the eggs from the hens every day. A little gem...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Crossways Farm. Yalda is a gifted host and we enjoyed delicious breakfasts thanks to her home made breads, jams and the freshest eggs from her own chickens. The accommodation is very clean, well kept and full of character. Our kids loved going with Yalda to pick eggs and pet some of the animals. A great break away on all accounts.

What a wonderful place - every little thing for a happy and comfortable stay has been thought of. We feel very privileged to have been among the first people to stay. Yalda is the consummate host and her animal friends were a delight for the kids (and the grownups) - we hope to be back soon!

We much enjoyed a peaceful few days here. A warm welcome, very comfortable beds and a delicious breakfast. Our grandchildren have enjoyed boating on the pond, playing with the goats and collecting hens' eggs. We thoroughly recommend this characterful place.

I can highly recommend this place to anyone wanting an idyllic long weekend or week away. Yalda is the perfect host. The house and gardens are to die for and the breakfast is the best you will ever get.
