The Royal Burgh of Lauder is a beautiful little town just 3 miles from Carfraemill. It has a wonderful art gallery and coffee shop - the Flat Cat Gallery - as well as an excellent deli and coffee shop - The Spotty Dog.
Carfraemill itself has a restaurant and is open for food all day (breakfast, brunch, coffee, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, high tea, dinner, drinks!). However, Lauder also has an outstanding restaurant in the Firebrick Brasserie - winner of many Scottish awards for fine dining.
Lauder is also home to the fairy-tale turreted Thirlestane Castle, one of the most spectacular in Scotland.

The Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder serves coffee, cakes and light lunches, while the excellent The Spotty Dog serves wonderful coffee, croissants, home baking, breakfast rolls and light lunches.
