Bourton House Garden is an award-winning, privately-owned garden surrounding an 18th century manor house and 16th century tithe barn. It is relatively small at 3 acres, but packs a huge amount of interest into every inch. The garden is beautiful all year round, but is absolutely magnificent in the summer and early autumn, when many gardens are past their best.

Bourton House Garden is located in the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Hill in the North Cotswolds, on the A44 just two miles from the market town of Moreton-in-Marsh. The garden is close to many other 'must see' Cotswold tourist attractions, including Batsford Arboretum and Sezincote House. Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden and Broadway are just a short drive away, with their many independent shops and art galleries.
What style of garden is Bourton House Garden?
Bourton House Garden is traditional in style, but with a flamboyant undercurrent. Immaculate topiary, taking the form of a Topiary Walk, a serene Knot Garden with a raised Basket Pond from the Great Exhibition of 1851 and an extravagant Parterre, all compliment the classical lines of the 18th century manor house. Magnificent herbaceous borders and terraces filled with rare, unusual and exotic plants in surprising combinations of colour, shape and texture add much excitement. There is a White Garden planted for interest in every season, water features, a unique Shade House and many creatively planted pots. The design of the garden incorporates the repeating theme of the 'ogee' arch, in clipped yew panels, metalwork and trellis work.

Visitors can explore the garden, stopping to take advantage of strategically placed seating to admire, reflect and relax. As well as the award-winning garden, there is a mowed walk in the 7 acre pasture opposite, taking in groups of specimen trees following a guide written by former Head Gardener, Paul Nicholls. The magnificent Grade I listed 16th century tithe barn houses a tearoom, serving light refreshments and homemade cakes, and a gift shop, selling cards, unusual gifts and vintage collectables (May to September only). There are also occasional exhibitions in the tithe barn and the garden is sometimes open for village events. Bourton House Garden is very group friendly, welcoming many international groups every year, as well as groups from all over the UK. Concession tickets are available for groups and there is free admission for tour leaders, group organisers, guides and coach drivers. Special catering arrangements can be made for lunches or teas.
