Overview

Find the life and times of a magnificent Berkshire Mansion This palladian mansion in Berkshire was saved from ruin by Lord and Lady life back in 1952, who set off to rebuild it and scour the land for the 18th century works of art and furniture that would be in accordance with the past of the estate. The consequence is what you see today–a clearly glorious house, inside and outside, representing the gracious life of the aristocrat in Georgian England. Within you'll see beautiful plasterwork, fantastic paintings and elegant furniture (don't forget the kitchens that have been brought up to date–the 1950s–which are a fascinating illustration of the hard life of a servant). Outside, take one of many walks through the 400 acres of parkland that encompasses the house–or just sit back and enjoy a picnic on the lawn.
