Overview

The largest prehistoric stone circle in the world at Avebury partly surrounds a pleasant community. In the 1930s, the archaeologist Alexander Keiller excavated here, and a museum bears his name. Avebury Manor, on the outskirts of the village, has been turned into a collaboration between the National Trust and the BBC, producing a tangible environment that celebrates and represents the lives of those who work.

Details on what activities are available at Avebury?

The Alexander Keiller Museum, organised in two sections, is split into the Stables Gallery, showing archaeological artefacts from around the World Heritage Site, as well as the Barn Gallery, a 17th-century threshing barn housing interactive exhibits and children's activities that uncover the storey of this prehistoric landscape.
