Places to visit in or near Gillingham

Gillingham is an excellent centre for exploring North Dorset. Nearby is the house and gardens at Stourhead which is owned by the National Trust. With many marked hedgerows, fields and paths to explore. It is a haven for a wide variety of birds and wildlife. The bridge over the River Shreen was painted by the famous artist John Constable, other paintings of his can be seen in the town museum.
