The town of Oxted is referred to in the Domesday Book back in 1086 as a small settlement with a street lined with 4 pubs. Today however the town has grown and now has several Tudor style buildings giving a sense of character. The parish church of St Mary's dates back to at least Norman times and possible earlier.
