It's not every day that you get to stay on a movie set. Merry Hill Barn was featured in the 2015 film "Far From the Madding Crowd," which was based on Thomas Hardy's novel of the same name. Since then, it has been entirely refurbished, with many modern luxuries and amenities, such as Bosch appliances in the kitchen and a 65" flat screen Freesat television in the sitting room. Although there is a sense of the original country dwelling, with exposed stone walls and original beams, Merry Hill Barn cleverly combines comfort, traditional features, and modern style, as well as cosy underfloor heating throughout. Just across the fields are a pub, farm shop and café, and within easy reach are the pretty Dorset villages of Portesham, Abbotsbury and Langton Herring.

At Merry Hill Barn, you're never far from the sea. The Jurassic Coast is well-known for being one of the best places in the world to find prehistoric fossils and evidence.
