Overview

Linn of Avon Holiday Cottages are situated in the beautiful village of Tomintoul - the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland. Opened in 2017, these new build, high spec holiday homes offer a perfect base for exploring the many activities in the Cairngorms National Park. Guests will love the scenery, wildlife and the many whisky distilleries.

What makes a stay at Linn of Avon Holiday Cottages unique?

The cottages were built during 2016 / 2017 on the site of an old store. The cottages were constructed to give an authentic feel externally using traditional materials, retaining a section of the store walls and the stone to incorporate them into the garden walls, thus maintaining a part of the past. Tomintoul sits within the heart of the highlands and offers guests unparalleled access to some of the most striking scenery anywhere in the world. There are around 30 whisky distilleries within 40 miles, numerous golf courses, ski centres, and much, much more. The houses are extremely energy efficient with an air source heat pump, underfloor heating, high grade windows, doors and insulation plus all appliances are A+ rated.

What is the capacity for Linn of Avon Holiday Cottages?

Both houses can host 5 people each. The bedrooms are laid out as a double, a twin and a single. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Tomintoul area?

Tomintoul is the highest village in the Highlands of Scotland at 345m and is situated on the Glenlivet Estate. There is an abundance of whisky distilleries, walking routes, mountain biking trails, golf courses, ski centres, clay pigeon shooting and much, much more. If you are feeling like you want to stay in and chill out, both cottages have flat screen smart televisions with apps built in such as Netflix. There is also high speed fibre broadband for streaming films and music as well as general browsing.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

The cottages come with full fridge freezers so that you can arrange delivery from Tesco in time for your check in day. If you need any essentials, there is a village shop 3 minutes round the corner. There are a number of different hotels, restaurants and cafes in Tomintoul which offer everything from soups and sandwiches to full evening meals.

This was a fantastic find, a little gem! Found and booked my my son for our daughters 23rd birthday surprise, she loved it, we all did! Aviemore is a very special place for my family as my husband proposed to me at the Coylumbridge hotel and we have been taking Zach and Zara there on many occasions since they were 6 and 3, even although they are now 26 and 23, we had so much fun in the children's play park near Glen Feshie Cottage, we all felt like children again!! Although the Cottage is miles away from Aviemore, this did not spoil anything for us as the drive in is stunning and very much worth the journey! The Cottage was perfect, very modern and very clean, it had everything you need, very much a home away! The owners were very helpful and accommodating, they even left a box of chocolates and shortbread for us, thank you Jim and Helen, shame we didn't get the chance to meet you both but, we will definitely be back and hope to have the pleasure of meeting you then! I would highly recommend booking one of Jim and Helen's Cottages!

Enjoyed a second visit to Glen Feshie, and found the cottage to be as comfortable, clean and well equipped as before. The cottage is situated in Tomintoul which is has some lovely gift shops and restaurants and cafes, and if visiting with Children their is a good childrens adventure play park. The cottage is situated in the picturesque Cairngorms national park which whatever the weather offers wonderful scenery just a short drive from the cottage. The cottage is less than an hours drive from Aviemore and a just a little over from Inverness.

We had a lovely week staying here on our family holiday. The cottage was spotless and well equipped with a nice sized garden for our toddler to play in. Location is very good and we went to a variety of sights and attractions within an hours drive. The owners also left some wine and shortbread for us which was a nice touch. I would suggest investing in some fans as it was very hot while we were there and we all struggled some nights due to the heat. Would recommend and would book again.

Wonderful, well equipped, neat and spacious cottage with relatively new construction. We found the cottage location highly suitable to explore Cairngorm National Park. It was a pleasure to meet host couple. Very pleasant, helping and courteous. Do recommend to anyone visiting this area.
