Hacton Cruck Medieval Hall

Hacton cruck is an award winning restoration of a medieval cruck framed open hall dating from the early 15th centuary. It offers the rare opportunity to experience the atmosphere and romance of a medieval building that has been considerately brought into the 20th century; at the same time far more of the original feel of the building has been retained than is usual outside of a museum setting. As in medieval times, the open hall with its screens passage and gallery over are the focal point of the building. The kitchen sits where the high table once stood, a wood burner replaces the central open fire and under-floor heating gently warms the flagstones in the colder months. Double and twin bedroom are housed in the original solar/parlour end together with an unashamedly modern bathroom. Hacton is tucked away in an orchard setting on the edge of Preston-on-Wye, conveniently located midway between Hereford and Hay-on-Wye.
