Enjoy scenic walks as well as picturesque Herefordshire villages. Hire a hot tub and look at the dark skies or spectacular sunsets. Taste wonderful local produce in bustling market towns like Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth, as well as nearby Cheltenham and its festivals.

What can guests enjoy when staying in the Ross-on-Wye area?

The market towns of Monmouth, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye and Abergavenny are nearby, along with the cathedrals at Gloucester, Hereford and Worcester. There is walking and cycling in the Forest of Dean, the Malvern Hills and the Welsh mountains, including the Brecon Beacons. Guests can also make use of the tennis court. The River Wye has activities such as canoeing, and there is also horse riding and golf nearby, and at the Ryder Cup course at the Celtic Manor. There is Tintern Abbey to explore and castles at Raglan and Goodrich. Activities for small children include farm parks and a butterfly maze, the sculpture trail walk and Go Ape, which is for older children. There is shopping at Labels outlet centre in Ross and a vintage shopping trail nearby. There are annual food festivals at Abergavenny and Hereford, as well as many country fairs and shows and music and literature festivals throughout the area, including Hay-on Wye and racing at Cheltenham. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic of course there are many changes to what is happening locally.  If guests require help in planning their stay please just ask and the owners will be able to provide booking facilities, advice and catering if required.

Where can guests enjoy food and drink?

Guests can walk from the cottage to the local award-winning pub, The Moody Cow, or cycle to The Alma at Linton. For those wishing to venture further afield, Ross-on-Wye has a great choice of pubs and restaurants and there are numerous other fine dining choices including Michelin-starred restaurants in the area. Local vineyards include The Three Choirs and Westons cider is made at Much Marcle. The cheese made famous by Wallace and Gromit - Stinking Bishop - is made in nearby Dymock. Catering can be arranged during guests' stay.

If guests have not yet experienced the Wye Valley, it merits serious consideration - it is a place for all seasons and Grove Wood Cottages will make them very welcome.
