Litton is small village centrally located for many tourist attractions in the local area. It offers plenty of walks straight from the front door and so is ideal for walkers or cyclists. The cottage is so homely and thoughtfully designed that you have many luxury's to hand. Beautifully soft bedding in pretty bedrooms with mattress toppers and warm quilts aid a really good nights sleep. Nearly everything you can think of, is in the kitchen for budding chefs or choose,to eat out in the excellent pub opposite your front door or any of the local eateries. Weather poor? Read books, play games, watch dvds, listen to music.. it is all provided for you. Need to update your Facebook? Free WiFi is provided but beware mobile phone coverage can vary. I personally liked that, as we had quiet, undisturbed holiday. Clothes dirty or wet? Wash and dry clothes in the cellar utility area, it is even heated for you. This was my second visit after 8 years and my husbands first visit. I can say that the cottage was just as I remembered it and Simon makes you feel very welcome. He stresses it is your home during your time there and you do feel that. This cottage is for you if you need a warm retreat, want an active holiday, are a family of four or two couples or one couple. You will feel at home here.

We have just returned from spending a week in Candlelight Cottage in Litton, Derbyshire. The cottage is warm, comfortable and very well equipped. It was refreshing to have basic items provided such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cooking oil etc. Simon, the owner, met us at the cottage, was welcoming and gave us a helpful tour round showing us how to manage the heating system etc. A tasty welcome pack was provided and fresh flowers placed around the cottage was a lovely homely touch - all making us feel very welcome. There is lots of local information, maps, walks and a good supply of books. The cottage is very well appointed on the village green and there are numerous walks from the door. It was great not to have to always use the car especially as weather was snowy. Having said this there are lots of places to visit in the locality including Eyam, Buxton and Bakewell. It was useful to have a village shop and we enjoyed Sunday lunch at the pub. We highly recommend this cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our first Stay at the cottage and would definitely recommend it. We stayed for a week as we wanted to do some walks and explore the Peak District. The location is great with its local pub and village shop and the cottage is full of traditional features and character. Candle light was extremely well equipped with all mod cons and was very clean, cosy and comfortable, great to return to after a full days walking! The owners have taken the time to provide lots of information regarding walks, maps, leaflets and books on the area and the attention to detail was much appreciated. Finally, we were greeted with a very warm welcome from Simon on arrival and loved the locally sourced goodies in the welcome pack!! Thank you - We would definitely stay at Candle light Cottage again.

Our second visit to Candlelight Cottage and every bit as lovely as we remembered. The cottage is so well equipped - we didn't want for anything. Very comfortable and exceptionally clean The cosiness of the kitchen with the AGA and the wonderfully comfortable living room complete with Christmas tree and the wood burner made it very difficult for us to leave! Despite the weather being inclement we found plenty of places to go and for the days when the weather allows there are lots of walks from the doorstep. We are now looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to Jill and Simon for thinking of everything and for the help and suggestions for places to visit.

They say that repeat business is the best business. This is why we have already booked for 2019!! This is an outstanding cottage in an outstanding village with an outstanding pub. The tranquility is very special in any weather. Everything whether rain shine or tempest is available at this cottage. This includes maps for the walker since there are wonderful walks from the village. In fact you can quickly immerse yourself into village life. A wonderful stay and a special thank you to Simon and Jill for their kindness and for being so thoughtful We are already looking forward to 2019

After too long a gap we returned to this cottage for a second time. It was just as lovely as we remembered. Very well appointed and equipped we were cosy and comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It is spotlessly clean and well situated for exploring the area. Simon and Jill are terrific hosts and we felt very well looked after. The welcome pack was a bonus too. All in all a tip top visit.

Candlelight cottage was a comfortable, clean, and cosy base from which to get out and explore a bit of the Peaks. Well situated for walking and towns, easy to find, and well equipped: I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a trip to the Peak District. We loved the woodburner, Aga, and modern bathroom. The Red Lion pub opposite did good food. Thanks Simon and Jill

We have had a fantastic week in Candlelight Cottage. It was our first trip to the Peak District and we could not have chosen a better location for exploring the Peaks. The cottage has everything you could wish for and is really cosy and comfortable. The Red Lion opposite is great and the village shop very handy. We will certainly be returning to such a lovely "home from home"
